Artist, Paintings, and Drawings

The basis of my current work is the visual and contextual reinterpretation of cartography. In my paintings and drawings I restrict the variety and amount of information on a map and refine textual and pictorial qualities. One aspect with which I experiment is the aesthetic and interpretive consequence of, for example, making international borders indistinguishable from coastlines or battalion boundaries. I am curious about how such alterations transform viewers’ experiences and affect their perceptions of visual information.
